Monolith
After the WW2, the Yugoslavian government under Josip Broz Tito comissioned a huge number of monuments, mainly at the sites of the crucial battles of the war. Half a century later Yugoslavia collapsed, and the monuments were abandoned, the ideals they stood for forgotten for good. Their symbolism can now be interpreted in a decidedly ironic light.
