Anna Giralt Gris is the co-founder and CEO of Artefacto, the pioneering centre for research, production, and innovation in film and technology based in Barcelona. Anna is at the forefront of producing innovative films and pioneering new media ventures, emphasizing cutting-edge AI-driven applications in cinema and educational programs. She is an acclaimed filmmaker, producer, researcher and entrepreneur. She has produced and directed several films and new media projects that have been selected and awarded at major international festivals, such as IFFR, CPH:DOX, SXSW, Ji.hlava, Thessaloniki, and DMZ. In 2024, she was selected among international producers for the EURODOC program, and in 2025, she was selected as part of the visitors'program at EFM Berlinale. She holds a degree in Film studies and a master's in communication research from Pompeu Fabra University and is an associate professor at UPF.

 

Jorge Caballero is a pioneering filmmaker and researcher in the field of cinema and artificial intelligence integration. He holds a Ph.D. in Cinema and AI from Pompeu Fabra University, where he teaches. He also co-directs the innovative Postgraduate Program in Film Algorithms and AI at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Co-founder and CTO of Artefacto, his productions have consistently pushed creative boundaries, being selected and awarded at major festivals including Rotterdam, IDFA, HotDocs, and SXSW. His work has been supported by the Sundance Institute and Tribeca Film Institute, and broadcast on ARTE, Discovery Channel, and other major networks. As a director, he has twice won Colombia's National Documentary Award.

 

Together they run Artefacto, where they develop the groundbreaking AI-driven series and documentaries Open Docs in collaboration with leading AI companies, exploring new frontiers in audiovisual creation. Through various initiatives with cutting-edge AI video generation companies, they empower filmmakers and producers worldwide with advanced tools and methodologies, revolutionizing documentary storytelling through technology. Their ongoing projects showcase the transformative potential of AI in documentary filmmaking, from experimental shorts to feature-length productions.

 

The lecture is held and organized under the Travelling Docs initiative, which connects the cross-border cooperation of 18 Creative Europe Desks - MEDIA Offices from as many as 15 European (MEDIA) countries.
