At the foot of Tepozteco, a sacred hill that governs the winds and fertility, lies the small town of Tepoztlán. Against this backdrop, fifteen-year-old Karla's body and mind are undergoing a revolution. While Karla navigates her transition, a process both destabilising and emancipatory which will give her the freedom she’s always dreamed of but which she doesn’t actually believe she’ll ever obtain, Kani shapes eight years of footage into a joyful film, as they handle the vagaries of a rural trans adolescence together. Niñxs offers a cathartic journey through eight years in the life of Karla, a trans girl who has chosen to fight against the ignorance and violence of a society which doesn’t understand and therefore refuses difference.
