Tonći Gaćina
Tonći Gaćina was born in 1983 in Split. In 2010, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Split, majoring in Film and Video. In the same year, he enrolled in the Graduate Program in Film and TV Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, majoring in Documentary Film, which he completed in 2015. As a filmmaker (cinematographer, camera operator, lighting technician, camera assistant) he worked on hundreds of professional film and audiovisual projects (feature and short documentary, feature and short fiction, commercials and music videos, experimental). As a director, he has made several documentary projects, which have been screened at important world festivals. His film Turizam! was screened at Visions du Reel and the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2016. Since 2012, he has been teaching documentary film in several film workshops at KKS, KKZ, Blank. Since 2015, he has been teaching courses mainly related to documentary film at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. As a mentor, he took part in several student and workshop films, some of which to international acknowledgment. From 2019 to 2023, he was employed at the Academy of Dramatic Arts as an assistant in the artistic field of film and television directing. Since 2023, he is employed at the Academy of Dramatic Arts as an assistant professor in the artistic field of film and television directing. He was the president of the Croatian Film Association 2016-2020, vice president of the Split Cinema Club 2010-2021, a member of the Croatian Audiovisual Council at the Croatian Film Association as a representative of the Croatian Film Association, and then as a deputy representative of non-professional film associations and amateur school groups 2017-2021. He is currently the president of the Film and Multimedia Council of the City of Split in the 2021-2025 term.
