Marianne & Leonard – Words of Love is a film about the love story between Leonard Cohen and his muse, Norwegian Marianne Ihlen. Cohen met Marianne in 1960 on the Greek island of Hydra, where their lifelong love story began. Broomfield, himself part of the artistic community on Hydra, who met Marianne when he was 20, follows the couple’s love from the beginning to the very end. Marianne and Leonard died only three months apart.
