One of the most successful projects ever developed at the ZagrebDox Pro workshop is a story about modern-day slavery in the heart of Europe.
A Woman Captured by Bernadett Tuza-Ritter is a film about Marish, a 52-year-old Hungarian woman who works 20 hours a day with no pay as a housekeeper. The film unmasks the shocking phenomenon of modern-day slavery in a contemporary society in the heart of Europe and speaks about the protagonist who has been living as a captive in a Hungarian family for over a decade.
A Hungarian-German co-production (Éclipse Film, Corso Film), this project was presented at the 12th edition of ZagrebDox Pro in 2016. Following the world premiere in November last year at the prestigious IDFA, the film has so far been screened at as many as 47 festivals and won 12 awards, including a jury special mention at this year’s ZagrebDox.
