The Years of Rust

Andrej Korovljev
Screening time
02.03. / Thursday, 16:00 - 18:00 Theatre 4
The well-known Croatian director of promotional and music videos Andrej Korovljev centres his film around workers at the Uljanik shipyard who end up victims of the unscrupulous Croatian privatization process.

Korovljev’s film is a story about workers who spend their entire working life performing the most difficult and dangerous job in the shipping yard – applying anti-corrosion protection to ship metal. The combination of dust, rust, poisonous gases, inhumane conditions and long hours without breaks has slowly turned these workers into apathetic working machines. The film is a portrayal of the privatisation process that has stripped many people in Croatia of their dignity.
