Saturday at ZagrebDox


Beside the award ceremony, the festival continues its regular programme and screens more great titles.

On Saturday at 7pm, Cineplexx Kaptol Centre theatre 2, we will announce the winners of 11th ZagrebDox: the winners of Big Stamp in international and regional competition, Small Stamp (for best film by a filmmaker up to 35 years of age), Movies That Matter and Teen jury awards. In addition to the main award winners, the winners of special mentions will also be announced. Admission to the event is free. After the award ceremony, the festival continues its regular programme with the film On the Bride Side by Antonio Augugliaro, Gabriele Del Grande and Khaled Soliman Al Nassiry (theatre 2, 8pm). The latter filmmaker is presenting personally the documentary about five Palestinians and Syrians who fake a wedding running away from the war is Syria, with a wish to arrive to Sweden.

On Saturday, theatre 1 at 7pm, check out the second festival screening of Of Men And War by Laurent Bécue-Renard, about American war veterans suffering from PTSD. After the screening we will have a chat with director Bécue-Renard, whose biography also includes reporting from occupied Sarajevo in 1995 and 1996. After the war he began studying the ongoing impact of war on three widows from a rehabilitation centre, the focus of his film War-Wearied, the winner of the best peace film award at Berlinale.

Saturday also features a documentary about a man who changed three names, three political systems, three wives and three religions: The Russian. Damir Ibrahimović and Eldar Emrić, the film’s directors, will take part in a Q&A session after the screening, scheduled for 6pm, theatre 2. We also announce the official premiere of the documentary I Like That Super Most Best, a directorial debut by Eva Kraljević. The film is scheduled for 8pm, theatre 3.
