Tin Soldiers

Stian Indrevoll, Torstein Grude

Who in the right mind would ever think that war is a “sun-tan lotion, an ice cream that must be consumed quickly because it is melting and gallons of booze”! Well, there are such people, but certainly not among those who found themselves in the United Nations camp in Quana, Lebanon, on that April 18, 1996, when Israelis dropped bombs on 8.000 refugees and on the UN troops who were protecting them. Seven years later, we get acquainted with three survivors, Norwegian soldiers who ended up in a hell full of dead bodies. Despite witnesses and video footage, their government has ignored what happened; Israel is accusing Hesbollah and vice versa. We return to the place of the tragedy to hear the soldiers’ story.
